Treasure Island Demonstration Garden Awarded 2018 Showcase Garden Award by Plant Select

Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture is proud to announce that our Treasure Island Demonstration Garden was awarded the one of two 2018 Showcase Garden Award by Plant Select.  The award was in recognition of excellence in design, vision and educational outreach and was chosen among 7 states and 68 gardens. The other winner selected was the Betty Ford Alpine Garden in Vail, Co.

Treasure Island Garden is located along the Poudre River Trail on the south side of Eastman Park.  A dedicated staff of volunteer Master Gardeners manages the garden daily as they educate the public on what plants and vegetables do best in the Northern Colorado climate.  In 2017, the garden produced 2.5 tons of food, which was donated to our local food pantry.

Plant Select is a cooperative effort between CSU and Denver Botanic Gardens. Their basic purpose is to grow, test, and promote an array of plants that will perform well in gardens throughout the intermountain region.  The annual meeting of Plant Select drew 200+ attendees from Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah and North Texas.
