During the month of December, the Town of Windsor Forestry Division will work in conjunction with a contract service to prune and remove a few trees in public-right-of-ways near downtown. Tree removal may have a traffic impact, particularly at the southwest corner of 7th Street and Walnut Street and at 4th and Walnut Street.
“Imagine heavy snow on a large brittle branch. You wouldn’t want to be under it when it breaks,” says Town Forester Ken Kawamura. “When older trees deteriorate, they can become a safety issue and when they impact the public-right-of-way, we need to remove them.”
The winter tree removal and pruning is an annual budgeted program to mitigate the potential risks of declining trees. The work should be complete by end of year, weather permitting.
