Key Dates for Candidates

No Specific Date

Candidate Affidavit and Financial Disclosure Statement must be filed within 10 days of becoming a candidate. “Candidate” is defined as any person who seeks nomination or election to a local public office that is to be voted on in this municipal election. A person is a candidate for election if the person has publicly announced an intention to seek election to public office and thereafter has received a contribution or made an expenditure in support of the candidacy.

Candidate Committee Registration or Small Donor Committee Registration (for Town candidates) must be filed with the Town Clerk before accepting or making any contributions.

January 2, 2024 

First day Nomination Petitions can be circulated.

January 22, 2024

Last day Nomination Petitions may be circulated and filed with the Town Clerk

January 26, 2024

Last day nomination petition signatures may be amended, corrected, or replaced.

Last day to submit an Affidavit of Intent for a write in candidate.

Last day to withdraw a nomination petition.

Last day for candidates to submit biography and photograph

January 29, 2024

Election may be cancelled if there are not more candidates than offices to be filled including write-in candidates.

January 30, 2024

Candidate Orientation 

Lot drawing for name placement on the ballot. 

February 27, 2024

First contribution and expenditure report due to the Town Clerk by 5pm 

Information regarding campaign finance can be found in the Windsor Municipal Code.

March 11, 2024

First day mail ballots can be sent to registered electors and made available at the Town Clerk’s office.

March 19, 2024

Second contribution and expenditure report due to the Town Clerk by 5pm 

March 29, 2024

Third contribution and expenditure report due to the Town Clerk by noon 

April 2, 2024

Election Day; ballots must be received by the Town Clerk no later than 7pm in order to be counted.

(Ballots may be received up to 8 days after the election from Uniformed and Overseas Citizen Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) voters)

April 12, 2024

Last day for Town Clerk to certify the election. 

April 17, 2024

Last day to complete mandatory recounts. 

April 18, 2024 

Town Board Orientation 

April 19, 2024

Last day for a person to contest the election by filing with the district's court clerk office.  

April 22, 2024

Last day to request a recount at the requestors expense. 

Swearing in of Mayor and Town Board Members representing Districts 1, 3, and 5 

May 7, 2024

Fourth contribution and expenditure report due to the Town Clerk by 5pm
