Over the past few years, the Town of Windsor and surrounding communities have seen unprecedented growth. As always, the Town of Windsor is committed to providing residents, employees and visitors with the high quality services and community environment they have come to know and expect. With this growth, improvements to the transportation infrastructure are needed.
Earlier this spring, Windsor's planning staff began working with a team of transportation consultants from Fehr Peers to collect input from residents, employees, visitors and business owners to analyze the existing transportation system. This information has been used to help develop a master plan that will serve as a guiding document for the future of transportation throughout the Town of Windsor. Now, as project consultants have collected initial input, they are ready to present draft recommendations and collect additional input on the draft Master Plan.
Windsor’s Transportation Master Plan is being drafted with the following goals driving the process. Windsor’s Transportation Master Plan will:
- Build off and supplement the 2017 Roadway Improvement Plan by implementing a multi-modal analysis and provide recommendations for action.
- Create a long-term vision to improve the current transportation infrastructure.
- Create a high-priority, short-term action list of infrastructure and programmatic recommendations for implementation.
- Designate a connected, efficient and comfortable network for people bicycling, walking and driving.
- Prioritize certain modes of transportation in corridors where all modes may not be viable.
With this in mind, the Town of Windsor Planning Department would like to invite residents, visitors and employees to get involved as the department takes the next step towards putting the plan into motion. Residents, visitors and employees are encouraged to complete the online survey at http://bit.ly/TransportationinWindsor by December 16 and to attend the following upcoming events.
