Windsor Police Investigate Village East Playground Fire
Windsor, CO — Windsor Police continue to investigate a fire that burned a portion of the Village East playground, 865 East Edge Circle, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2021. The fire burned a significant section of the play equipment and adjacent land and caused nearly $300,000 in damages.
The damaged portion of the playground has been rendered unsafe and is closed indefinitely. The area is actively under investigation. According to Windsor’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Deputy Director Tara Fotsch, the parts for the playground replacement could take four to five months with installation either happening this fall or next spring.
“This is a fairly busy playground so we’re hoping someone saw something that would help us figure out what happened,” said Fotsch.
The three-acre park opened with a ribbon-cutting on July 11, 2019, and cost $1.3 million to build.
The Windsor Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen suspicious activity in the area, the day of the fire, to contact Detective John Grashorn at 970-674-6445 or via email at email@example.com.
