In honor of September 11th, the Windsor Farmers Market will host a complimentary arts & crafts day Saturday, September 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Boardwalk Park, 100 N. 5th Street, to celebrate first responders and on September 11, former and active first responders will be gifted up to $5 in Windsor Farmers Market bucks to apply toward their purchase.
“On Sep. 7, in a private ceremony recognizing our first responders, we will present a basket filled with thank you cards, drawings, and letters created by members of our community, shoppers, and Windsor Farmers Market vendors,” said Lexie Spykstra, events coordinator for the Windsor Parks, Recreation and Culture Department. “Honoring our first responders with personal messages from children, youth, and adults is our way of showing them how much we appreciate them and value their bravery.”
For one day only, on Saturday, September 4, at the Windsor Farmers Market, a booth will be set up with markers, crayons, stationary paper and additional arts & crafts materials for the community stop by and create thank you cards for the Windsor Police Department and the Windsor Severance Fire Department. The community is encouraged to join the festivities and show their support.
On September 11, for one day only, the Town of Windsor will gift former and active first responders up to $5 in Windsor Farmers Market bucks to apply toward their purchase from participating vendor. First responders interested in receiving the Farmers Market discount must present one of the following: show a photo identification issued by the department, be in uniform, or simply wear a shirt identifying the fire department of police department’s logo.
The Windsor Police Department and the Windsor Severance Fire Department collectively respond to nearly 25,000 calls per year.
