Windsor Water Utility Shares Consumer Confidence Report

Poudre River in spring

The Safe Drinking Water Act was established in 1974 to protect the quality of drinking water in the United States, and it focuses on water designed for drinking use, also known as potable water. The act authorized the Environmental Protection Agency to establish minimum standards that protect tap water and requires all operators of public water systems to comply with the same health-related standards.

Per the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Act, the Town of Windsor and other drinking water providers are required to provide customers with an annual Consumer Confidence Report. The report includes information on the Town of Windsor’s water sources, treatment facilities, health information and sampling results from the previous year and it serves to ensure residents that their water supply either meets or exceeds federal standards. According to this year’s report, Windsor’s drinking water exceeds federal standards.

“The Town of Windsor works with regional drinking water providers to monitor our water supply. Our goal is to ensure that it’s compliant with all federal and local regulations so our residents can be assured their drinking water is safe,” said Director of Public Services Eric Lucas.
