Windsor, CO — A public input gathering is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at 33327 County Rd 15 for residents to view the proposed site plan designs for the Historic Halfway Homestead, vote for their favorite concept, and give input on proposed ideas. Participants must be present to vote.

“Engaging our community in the design process and providing a sense of community for our residents will ensure that we build a space that reflects the neighborhood,” said Tara Fotsch, Deputy Director of Windsor’s Parks, Recreation & Culture. “We are intentionally hosting the community meeting at the historic site to give residents a feel for the space and introduce them to future location as they view the renderings, give input and vote.”

Formerly known as Jacoby Farm, the Historic Halfway Homestead is Windsor’s first historic landmark site. The Halfway Homestead is named after the Halfway House, Windsor’s oldest standing structure. So named because it got its name for being halfway between Greeley and Laporte on the Overland Trail Cutoff Route. The Halfway House was originally a stagecoach stop, post office, and pub. The other historic building on the site is the Dickey Farmhouse, completed in 1907. The Dickeys were a prominent Windsor family that operated one of the largest farms in the region. The Historic Halfway Homestead is currently not open to the public except for special programs and events.

The property is currently under development to become a historic heritage site with construction planned for 2023.
