[ARCHIVED] National Citizen Survey Results Are In!

Results of the National Citizen Survey conducted in the Town of Windsor this spring are in. A total of 476 completed surveys were received, providing and overall response rate of 42%. The Town of Windsor response rate was above average as typical figures obtained by citizen surveys range from 25% to 40%.

The overall quality of life in the Town of Windsor was rated as “excellent” or “good” by 91% of survey respondents. A majority reported that they would be staying in Windsor for the next five years and 94% are either somewhat or very likely to recommend living in Windsor. The Town also received very high ratings in areas of overall image and reputation, cleanliness, public safety, and community inclusiveness.

A majority of survey respondents felt positively about the overall direction that the Town of Windsor is taking as indicated by being ranked 49th out of 252 jurisdictions who asked similar questions in their citizen surveys making them available for benchmark comparison. All characteristics of public trust were rated much above the national benchmark comparison.

Survey results identified areas of improvement including economic development where Windsor landed below the national benchmark for shopping and employment opportunities. The Town also matched up similarly to other jurisdictions for police services. Both areas were identified as key drivers for the Town of Windsor and will be targeted for improvements.

The National Citizen Survey was administered by National Research Center, Inc. (NRC), in partnership with the International City/County Management Association. The survey responses were analyzed by NRC and compared to a database of approximately 500 jurisdictions across the nation. The survey results will help guide the Town of Windsor in setting priorities and taking action in several areas.
