New water rates will be going into effect in 2014 for Windsor residential water utility customers. In 2013 there was a 13 percent increase in the cost of water. The Town of Windsor absorbed 9.5 percent and a 3.5 percent increase was passed on to water customers. The City of Greeley, as one of the water suppliers to Windsor, has advised the Town that they will be decreasing water costs by 5 percent in 2014. In order to compensate for the 9.5 percent absorbed by the Town in 2013, rates for Town of Windsor water customers will increase by 4.5 percent in 2014.
The rates and tiers for single family residential accounts will be as follows:
1st tier usage charge (per 1,000 gallons) - $3.57 for up to 16,000 gallons per month
2nd tier usage charge (per 1,000 gallons) - $5.33 for 16,001 through 22,500 gallons per month
3rd tier usage charge (per 1,000 gallons) - $7.94 for use over 22,500 gallons per month
The updated rates will be in effect starting with meter readings in January, 2014 and reflected on the billing statements received by water utility customers in February, 2014.
