The Town of Windsor will participate in the 2016 National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
National Night Out is a program that encourages citizens nationwide to hold a block party, meet their neighbors, and partner with police to help make neighborhoods safer. Similar to a neighborhood watch program, a Block Captain organizes his/her neighborhood and holds an event — an ice cream social, BBQ, corn roast, etc. Events are usually held between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m.
Representatives from the Town of Windsor, the Windsor Police Department and Windsor-Severance Fire Rescue will visit each location and meet the residents of the neighborhood to discuss concerns, answer questions and get acquainted in a casual setting.
Cul de sacs may be blocked off for this event, but not through streets.
If you are interested in serving as a Block Captain for National Night Out, call the Windsor Police Department at 970-674-6400 to register.
