The Town of Windsor’s Windsor Lake will open Saturday, May 27, for water craft rentals and motorized or non-motorized boating.
Motorized Boats
Motorized boats can operate on Windsor Lake with a permit and reservation from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays May 27 through August 8; and Saturdays and Sundays only August 12 through September 17. Motorized boating will not be allowed on July 4.
Permits may be purchased at the Community Recreation Center. Permit holders are scheduled on the lake on motorized days on a first-come, first-served basis. A maximum of 20 permits will be sold — $15 residents, $25 non-residents (half day); $450 residents (annual). If permits are not sold by June 5, they will be open to non-residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
Daily and annual permit holders must call 970-674-3500 to request their time and day of the week to reserve a spot on the lake no earlier than Monday of that week.
Jet skis are not permitted on Windsor Lake.

Non-Motorized Boating
All water craft outside of the swim beach must purchase a current Town of Windsor permit to use the lake, $5 residents, $7 non-residents (day permit); $35 residents, $50 non-residents (annual). One permit per craft is required.
From May 27 to August 8, non-motorized boats can only be on the lake Sunday through Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays during daylight hours. After August 8, non-motorized boats can be on the lake year round from sunrise to sunset as long as ice is not present.
Boat Rentals
Kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and aqua trikes are available to rent at the Windsor Lake concessions building, $5 for 30 minutes. Rentals will be available from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday May 29 through August 7; noon to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays June 1 through August 4; and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, May 27 through September 17.
Fishing
Fishing is allowed at Windsor Lake year round when ice is not present, however, a valid fishing license is required. Night fishing is allowed from the south end of the parking lot on Highway 257 north to the inlet bridge of the lake only.

Swimming
Swimming is permitted at the Windsor Lake Swim Beach within areas designated by ropes and buoys only during daylight hours. There is no lifeguard on duty. All children 9 and under must be accompanied by a responsible guardian 16 years or older.
A dog swim beach and dog park is open on the northeast side of the lake.
