The Town of Windsor Police Department and the Windsor Optimist Club will hold a community Bike Night event from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at Boardwalk Park.
“We’ve worked with the Optimist Club to revamp our annual Bike Rodeo,” said Chief of Police Richard Klimek. “This year, we’ve moved locations and expanded the event to make it more family and community oriented.”
The evening will kick off with a family-friendly bike parade around Windsor Lake at 6:15 p.m. led by a bicycle patrol officer.
After the parade, kids under 12 years old are invited to participate in bicycle safety stations: an obstacle course, bicycle registration, helmet giveaways, and helmet and bike safety checks. At check-in, safety station participants will be given a passport. Once complete, passports can be turned in for a prize pack.
Helmets and prize packs will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The Police Department will offer $3-per-person hamburger or hot dog meal deals. Proceeds will benefit the Windsor Optimist Club.
The event is also sponsored by Spokes Bicycles and the Johnny Jacoby Community Foundation.
