At approximately 1:49 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, Windsor Severance Fire Rescue received a call for a commercial structure fire at 214 Main Street, the site of the historic Windsor Mill.
While the fire has been contained, crews will work to address hot spots and clean up debris throughout the day. As a result, Main Street (Highway 392) will be closed from 1st Street to 7th Street. Side streets along Main Street may be closed as needed.
Xcel Energy has shut off utilities to the Windsor Mill site.
At this time, there are no reported injuries or casualties and the cause of the fire is unknown. An investigation into the cause and origin of the fire will be conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Colorado Bureau of Investigations. Questions regarding the investigation should be referred to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
In addition to Windsor Severance Fire Rescue personnel, individuals from the following organizations assisted with the incident: Front Range Fire Rescue, Loveland Fire Rescue, Poudre Fire Authority, Eaton Fire Rescue, Berthoud Fire, UCHealth EMS, Weld County Sheriff, Weld County Communications, Windsor Police Department, Windsor Public Works, and Xcel Energy.
