Back to School Safety

The Windsor Police Department and Windsor Severance Fire Rescue will join forces for back-to-school safety efforts beginning Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Law enforcement and fire vehicles and staff will be located near select school crossing locations to remind drivers of school zone pedestrian safety:

  • 9th Street and Main Street
  • Jacoby Road and 15th Street
  • Garden Drive and 3rd Street
  • Diamond Valley Parkway
  • Range View Elementary
  • Severance Middle School

Agency representatives will be present before and after school, from 7:30-8:10 a.m. and 2:30-3:10 p.m., August 9-16.

In school zones, drivers are asked to pay attention, put down cell phones, and slow down in an effort to keep children safe. The speed limit in a school zone is 20 MPH when children are present, except for the 30 MPH zone on Main Street. Fines are doubled in school zones during school times.
