Rates for Town of Windsor water utility customers will increase 4.97 percent beginning February 1, 2018, as a result of water supplier cost increases.
“We strive to balance affordability with fiscal stewardship, and, so, we review water rates annually,” Director of Finance Dean Moyer said.
“We have three different water suppliers, and each increased their costs in 2018. We used a weighted average to determine an equitable way to increase rates for our water customers.”
The monthly base rate for single-family residential accounts will remain the same at $14.81. Tiered monthly usage rates will increase 4.97 percent, as follows:
- Tier 1 — Up to 16,000 gallons: $4.05 per 1,000 gallons
- Tier 2 — 16,001 - 22,500 gallons: $6.05 per 1,000 gallons
- Tier 3 — 22,500+ gallons: $9.01 per 1,000 gallons
“The average consumption for a single-family home in Windsor is 7,060 gallons,” Moyer said. “With this use, an average Windsor single-family home water user can expect to see an approximate increase of $1.35 on their March bill.”
The updated rates will be in effect starting with meter reads in February 2018 and will be reflected on the billing statement received by water utility customers in March 2018.
